Neil E. Klingshirn

Neil E. Klingshirn is a dedicated and passionate advocate for employee rights. He was among the first attorneys in Ohio certified as an Employment Law Specialist. To achieve this certification, Neil demonstrated substantial and continuing involvement in employment law, submitted individual references from judges and other employment law specialists and passed a rigorous written examination.

Having practiced employment law for 18 years, Neil is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer. He has recovered substantial verdicts in state and federal courts on behalf of individuals.

Neil began his employment law practice with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Cleveland, Ohio in 1986. He represented employers for seven years with that firm and an employment specialty firm until he formed his own firm in 1993 in order to represent individuals. Today, Neil primarily represents individuals in all areas of employment law.

Neil is a 1986 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law. He was an Editor for the Law Journal and a founding Trustee of the Student Funded Fellowship. He graduated with Honors in Law, and is a member of the Order of the Coif. In 1983 Neil graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University with a bachelor's of business administration in accounting. In 1983 Kent State University named Neil its Outstanding Senior of the Year.

Professionally, Neil is Vice Chair of the Ohio State Bar Association's 1,900 member Labor and Employment Law Section. Neil writes for employment law publications and is widely published on the internet. Neil is Vice President of Leadership Akron's Class XIII and previously served on the Executive Board of the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Council. Neil also Chaired its Legislative Affairs Committee.

Neil is the Chair of the Hudson, Ohio Personnel Advisory & Appeals Board, which is Hudson’s Civil Service Commission. In 1998 Neil served as Finance Chair for the Hudson Local Schools' ballot levy and in 1993 co-chaired the successful merger of the Village of Hudson and Hudson Township. Neil has served on the St. Mary’s, Hudson Catholic Church finance council, as well as its new church construction and fund raising committees.
